To align with the government's promotion of a LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) lifestyle, recreational facilities were incorporated into the improvement plans for the Shihmen Main Canal. Green corridors were constructed on both sides of the canal, featuring walking paths, pavilions, and bicycle lanes. Various trees and shrubs were planted, including Taiwan cherry, double-flowered cherry blossoms, golden trumpet trees, Britton ruellia, bald cypresses, and fringe trees. These additions enhance the canal's landscape with seasonal changes and connect it to the nearby Daxi area's tourism system, integrating with surrounding bicycle paths. This route allows visitors to enjoy leisurely bike rides while appreciating the canal's beauty and learning about various hydraulic engineering facilities.
