Guoling Lateral Channel

Basic information

Introduction
The Guoling Lateral Channel, known as Champs-Elysées Waterfront, is located alongside Provincial Highway 1 in the Pingzhen section. As the third-largest lateral channel of the Shihmen Main Canal, it spans 10.62 kilometers and serves as the primary irrigation facility for the Guoling area. Originally drawing water from Laojie River and equipped with a weir, the canal suffered from an unstable water source. Improvements were made to supplement the water supply through the Zhongli Lateral Channel. Since 1993, the canal has undergone continuous improvement projects, enhancing its irrigation and flood control functions while also incorporating green landscaping and walking paths in various locations. As shown in the image, the fragrant vine attracts many visitors during its flowering season in November. Combined with nearby attractions such as the Laojieshi Laojie River leisure path and the 1895 War Memorial Park, it provides a recreational space for the public.
